Listen to this! Jesus was not born to be a carpenter, but for 30 years, he did what he was not born for—he built furniture. Yet, this was part of his preparation. Why? Because God can prepare you in the everyday responsibilities of life for a supernatural call.”
This truth reveals a profound insight into how God shapes us through the ordinary. Jesus, though called to be the Savior, spent the majority of his life in the quiet discipline of carpentry. The years spent in this humble work weren’t a detour; they were vital preparation. God was forming the character, patience, and resilience needed for his ultimate mission. And in the same way, God often prepares us spiritually while we carry out our everyday responsibilities. Many people believe they must be in a spiritual role to grow spiritually, but that’s not true. The everyday tasks, done with faithfulness, are part of God’s training for our higher calling.
To fully embrace this preparation, however, requires mental and emotional health. A healthy mind allows us to find purpose in the mundane and faith in the seemingly insignificant. Mental health isn’t just for facing crises; it’s for thriving in the ordinary, allowing us to remain present and open to God’s work in every moment. When we maintain a healthy mind, we are better able to trust God’s process and see how even routine tasks are shaping us for His purpose.
Therefore, let us value our mental well-being as part of our spiritual preparation. Just as Jesus’ years as a carpenter readied him for his ministry, our faithful efforts in the daily can equip us to fulfill God’s supernatural call in our lives. A healthy mind, attentive to God’s presence in the ordinary, becomes fertile ground for His extraordinary purpose to unfold.
